This position offers a unique opportunity to join a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety team focused on upholding the highest standards of workplace safety and environmental stewardship. About the Senior Safety Officer Role Reporting directly to the OH&S Coordinator, the Senior Safety Officer will play a critical role in maintaining a strong and visible health and safety presence across the site.

The successful candidate will champion Barrick’s core values by communicating with integrity, driving results, and fostering sustainable safety practices that align with international standards. Key Responsibilities for Senior Safety Officer Jobs in Kalumbila Coordinate and implement the HSE management system in line with global best practices, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

Provide expert advice, support, and coaching to both contractors and employees on health and safety risk management. Conduct comprehensive workplace safety audits and inspections throughout the mining site.

Maintain and administer safety documentation and records accurately. Monitor incident trends, audit outcomes, and corrective actions; prepare detailed reports.

Lead and participate in incident investigations, risk assessments, and safety forums. Oversee health and safety training initiatives and presentations within the operational area.

Proactively identify safety issues and develop effective solutions. Ensure completion of all Management Operating System (MOS) tasks to required standards and deadlines.

Develop, implement, and maintain safe work procedures while promoting high safety awareness and compliance with LMC’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy. Ensure facilities, procedures, and workforce competencies meet legal compliance and support sustainable environmental practices.

Set and drive continuous improvement targets to enhance health and safety performance. Qualifications and Experience Required Full Grade 12 School Certificate.

Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). NEBOSH Certificate is an advantage.

At least 3 years post-qualification experience, including a minimum of 1 year in mining or an industrial environment. Membership with the Zambia Occupational Health and Safety Association (ZOHSA).

Strong communication skills in English. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
