This role is critical in optimizing mining methods, coordinating all hauling operations, and ensuring safety, quality, and cost targets are met consistently. Key Responsibilities for Superintendent Production Hauling Jobs in Solwezi Plan and schedule hauling operations to meet monthly production goals and ensure availability of manpower and equipment.
Optimize haulage parameters and oversee timely development of new haul roads. Implement sustainable processes to minimize operator and shovel delays, and increase truck productivity.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including trolley utilization and tyre life extension beyond 6,500 hours. Maintain strong client relationships, managing scope changes, variation orders, and daily operational interactions professionally.
Manage risks by enforcing SHEQ systems, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring a safe, clean, and environmentally responsible workplace. Lead, coach, and develop production teams, ensuring clarity of roles, competency, performance management, and high morale.
Coordinate daily with clients, project services, and plant management to minimize downtime and resolve production issues promptly. Maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders including subcontractors, suppliers, community members, and internal functions.
Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 Certificate required. Degree in Mining, Mineral Science, or related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
Valid Blasting License, First Aid Certificate, and Driver’s License. At least 10 years of experience in a similar role within an open-pit mine, including a minimum of five years in mine planning.
Strong technical knowledge of mineral reserve estimation, reconciliation methodologies, and geotechnical principles. Proficient in technical services, cost management, productivity enhancement, and heavy equipment earthmoving applications.
Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and strong team leadership capabilities. Experience in preparing operating and capital budgets, as well as job analysis and report writing.
