Purpose of the Job: To ensure continuous availability and optimal utilization of the Bank’s cash by arranging for cash consignment, timely cash supply and collection, arranging for the withdrawal and deposit of cash to/from issue account with National Bank of Ethiopia, and monitoring and setting cash holding limits. The job holder is also responsible for following up and managing reserve account and check Clarence activities.
Generic Functions:
Develop, review, and implement functional strategies, policies, procedures, annual plans, and budgets for the Treasury Management Department
Establish and monitor performance targets for the respective work unit, regularly review results against agreed KPIs, identify performance gaps, and implement development, coaching, and corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement and achievement of business objectives
Drive cost effectiveness and operational excellence across the function to build sustainable competitive advantage
Establish and maintain a robust internal control environment to proactively identify, mitigate, and report operational risks within the department
Implement and ensure cross-functional collaboration to eliminate departmental silos, ensuring seamless end-to-end process execution
Specific Functions:
Develop creative and innovative strategies for the treasury management which is in line with the bank’s corporate strategies
Overseeing the ongoing measurement and monitoring of net funding availability and handling investment planning to facilitate optimal returns on investments as per the approved policies, procedures
Review the liquidity position of the Bank and take appropriate action as per the Bank’s policies and procedures
Monitor and review reserve and liquidity report of the Bank and ensure that the reserve requirement of the bank is met
Responsible for the purchase, sale and redemption of government bonds and other securities as deemed necessary
Ensure that excess cash holding limit are deposited/credited to the reserve and payment and settlement account in the NBE
