DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Transaction Processing
- Receive and process customer payments via cash, mobile money, or card.
- Issue receipts and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
- Balance cash drawers at the end of each shift.
- Reconcile daily sales with accounting records.
Customer Service
- Provide courteous and professional service to customers at checkout.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve payment-related issues.
- Maintain a positive shopping experience by ensuring efficiency at the counter.
Record Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain accurate transaction logs and submit daily reports.
- Assist in preparing cash summaries for the finance department.
- Report discrepancies or irregularities in payments immediately.
Compliance & Controls
- Follow company policies on cash handling and fraud prevention.
- Ensure compliance with accounting and audit standards.
- Safeguard company funds and maintain confidentiality of financial data.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a cashier in a retail or supermarket environment.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred).
- Strong numerical and cash-handling skills.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
