Key Responsibilities for Production Metallurgist Jobs in Solwezi Optimize the comminution circuit to meet crushing and milling throughput targets by monitoring daily performance and addressing deviations.

Adjust crusher gaps, perform regular metallurgical checks, and enhance crusher efficiency to achieve operational goals. Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for crushing, milling, and classification on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Conduct routine inspections and spot checks on crushers, mills, classifiers, weightometers, and screens to maintain plant integrity. Carry out monthly belt cuts and full plant surveys to analyze particle size distribution (PSD) and support process optimization.

Calibrate and monitor particle size analysis (PSA) cameras to ensure accurate real-time data collection. Identify bottlenecks, evaluate operating parameters, and lead continuous improvement initiatives within comminution circuits.

Collaborate with operations teams to troubleshoot and optimize daily plant performance, including active participation in planning meetings. Manage grinding media by maintaining target ball load levels, tracking consumption, and overseeing ball sorting and charging processes.

Monitor classification equipment such as cyclones and screens, ensuring target classification is consistently achieved through inspections and PSD checks. Lead mill liner wear monitoring using advanced tools like FARO 3D scanners and report findings to relevant teams.

Maintain comprehensive documentation and generate reports for operational and metallurgical stakeholders. Coordinate closely with engineering, warehouse, and procurement departments to support smooth operations and planning.

Qualifications and Experience Minimum Grade 12 certificate. Diploma in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. At least one year of relevant experience in a plant environment is preferred.
