Role Overview – Junior Metallurgist Jobs in Kalumbila As a Junior Metallurgist, you will be an integral part of the process team, providing essential technical and operational support to ensure optimal plant performance.
Your focus will be on monitoring metallurgical parameters and control strategies to meet design specifications, with strong emphasis on safety, environmental standards, productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Key Responsibilities Provide technical assistance to metallurgists and plant operations by collecting and analyzing plant data and measurements.
Implement solutions to meet and exceed key performance indicators including safety, milling rates, throughput, recovery, concentrate grade, efficiency, and cost control. Support timely data entry and preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly metallurgical reports.
Assist in the development of technicians within the metallurgical laboratory and processing plant for daily operations and survey campaigns. Collect data through control system historians and sampling to support ad-hoc decision making.
Coordinate plant and laboratory test work aimed at optimizing both front-end and back-end plant operations. Conduct circuit surveys under metallurgist guidance to improve plant understanding and control.
Report test findings to metallurgists for further analysis and implementation. Identify and drive process improvement opportunities.
Serve as a liaison between metallurgists and metallurgical technicians to ensure smooth communication and workflow. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mineral processing plants, preferably in large automated plants with SABC and sulphide flotation circuits. Required Skills and Attributes Strong understanding of metallurgical information, process improvement, and control strategies.
Analytical skills to identify process bottlenecks and conduct metallurgical test work. Ability to conduct test work and train technicians effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce clear and accurate operational reports. Leadership and motivational skills with a strong drive for ownership and accountability.
Ability to maintain discipline and perform under pressure in a multicultural environment. Proactive, enthusiastic, and solution-oriented mindset.
