DIRECTOR GROUND HANDLING SERVICES
REPORTS TO THE CEO

Our Client, a State-Owned Enterprise, is seeking to recruit a Director Ground Handling. The position is responsible for driving the organisation’s ground operations, generating the bulk of business revenue while ensuring the safe, secure, and cost-efficient handling of customer and airline operations. The role spearheads nationwide product development, establishes and enforces policies and procedures, and maintains regulatory compliance to deliver exceptional customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivering cost-effective ground handling services, including check-in, lounges, baggage handling, and ramp handling.
Monitoring daily team performance and ensuring complaints and correspondence are resolved.
Overseeing VIP arrivals and departures and personally monitoring key activities.
Analysing performance trends and implementing daily operational improvements.
Planning for future technology, equipment, and resource needs aligned with business strategy.
Initiating GSE maintenance plans to ensure optimal equipment performance and reduced downtime.
Strengthening the sustainability of the spares supply chain in collaboration with other departments.
Implementing Service Level Agreements with various airlines and ensuring no penalties are incurred.

Optimising resources and leveraging economies of scale to manage service delivery costs.
Developing and implementing departmental strategies, plans, and budgets aligned with organisational goals.
Developing and implementing policies and procedures aligned with NHS goals, regulations, and customer requirements.
Applying the risk management process across ground operations, adhering to IATA and ICAO procedures.
Negotiating ground handling contracts and SLAs in collaboration with other departments.
Structuring and organising the department to meet current and future needs, including succession planning.
Reviewing management systems periodically to ensure suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness.
Liaising with authorities, customer airlines, and external partners on ground handling activities.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Master’s Degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or Strategic Management is an added advantage.
Certificates and other related qualifications in aviation management.
7-10 years working experience in aviation ground handling or operations, 5 years of which should be at a Senior Management level.
A clean driver’s license
