STAFF VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT – ACADEMIC STAFF

The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to be considered for the following academic vacancies in various Faculties of the University. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching, research, consultancy, and community engagement within their respective fields of expertise.

A. FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE

i. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Animal Health and Welfare

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Animal Science obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Animal Science for a Lecturer and above.
• Interested candidates must be practicing and registered Veterinarians.

ii. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Beef and Dairy Production

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Animal Science with a major in Beef and Dairy Production obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Animal Science for a Lecturer and above.

iii. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Animal Science

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Animal Science with a major in Animal Breeding or Livestock Production obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Animal Science for a Lecturer and above.

B. FACULTY OF DEVELOPMENT STUDIES

i. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Accounting

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Accounting obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Accounting for a Lecturer and above.

ii. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Agribusiness Management

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Agribusiness Management obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Agribusiness Management for a Lecturer and above.

iii. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Development Finance

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Development Finance or Finance obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Development Finance for a Lecturer and above.
• Interested candidates must be proficient in teaching:
  • Marketing and Market Research
  • Product Development for Microfinance Institutions
  • Quantitative Methods
  • Microfinance and Development
  • Managerial Aspects of Microfinance
  • Digital Finance
  • Micro and Small Enterprise

iv. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Human Resource Management

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Human Resource Management for a Lecturer and above.

v. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Environmental Engineering

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or any closely related field obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Environmental Engineering or any closely related field for a Lecturer and above.

vi. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Development Economics

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Development Economics obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Development Economics for a Lecturer and above.
• Interested candidates must be proficient in teaching:
  • Macro Economic Theory
  • Institutional and Behavioral Economics
  • Economic Growth and Development

vii. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Data Science

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Data Science obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Data Science for a Lecturer and above.
• Interested candidates must be proficient in teaching:
  • Robotics
  • Big Data Analytics
  • Machine Learning
  • Statistical Programming

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics for a Lecturer and above.
• Interested candidates must be proficient in teaching:
  • Mathematics for Economics
  • Statistics for Economics

ix. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Language and Communication

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics for a Lecturer and above.
• Candidates must have a background in Education.

x. Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer / Staff Associate in Journalism

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies or Communication Studies obtained from a recognized University for an Assistant Lecturer and a PhD in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies or Communication Studies for a Lecturer and above.
