We are seeking a dedicated professional for superintendent construction jobs in Solwezi to lead the safe, compliant, and efficient construction of the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) at FQM Kansanshi Mining Plc.

Role Overview:

Superintendent Construction Jobs in Solwezi The Superintendent – Construction will serve as the accountable leader for all TSF construction activities, ensuring they are conducted safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with environmental and engineering standards.

Reporting to the TSF Manager and working closely with the Technical Superintendent, this role requires strong situational awareness, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage complex construction challenges while maintaining a focus on safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities Safe Execution & Site Leadership:

  • Lead all TSF construction activities with a strong emphasis on safety, risk mitigation, and environmental compliance.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture among contractors and site personnel.

Project Execution & Delivery:

  • Oversee construction works in line with approved designs, specifications, and schedules.
  • Monitor progress, control costs, and ensure quality through rigorous inspections and QA/QC adherence.

Practical Problem Solving & Constructability:

  • Identify and resolve high-risk construction challenges by collaborating with engineers and subject matter experts to develop practical, actionable solutions.

Contractor & Team Management:

  • Direct and supervise contractors and site teams, ensuring alignment with project goals, resource allocation, and performance accountability.

Stakeholder Coordination & Communication:

  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders, providing timely updates on progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Planning, Cost & Schedule Control:

  • Manage construction budgets, material supply, and resource utilization to ensure project delivery within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Qualifications and Experience Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Mining Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in TSF operation, engineered fill, and buttress construction.
  • Demonstrated expertise in tailings-based earthworks and deposition construction, including downstream and centerline raising methods.
  • Strong understanding of TSF construction, earthworks, and large civil works execution.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience managing construction contractors and complex site logistics.
