PART-TIME RESEARCH PROJECT SUPERVISORS – EMPA/EMBA – Botswana Open University

Botswana Open University (BOU) invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for part-time positions as Research Project Supervisor for the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA) and Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programmes under the School of Social Sciences and the School of Business and Management Studies, respectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to research-related queries raised by students through different means of communication.
• Monitor students' research submissions and provide them with detailed and timely feedback.
• Adhere to the prescribed turnaround time for providing feedback.
• Guide students with their research proposals and provide feedback.
• Provide all the necessary guidance and counselling to students.
• Guide students with selection and planning of suitable and manageable research topics.
• Be a member of a team that critically reviews students' proposals and provides constructive guidance to the students.
• Provide constructive, timely, and thorough guidance to students throughout the dissertation process.
• Ensure that students adhere to ethical research standards and institutional research requirements.
• Supervise and support students using approved online and distance learning platforms.
• Ensure compliance with Botswana Open University postgraduate research regulations and supervision procedures.

Requirements

• A Ph
• D in Public Administration, Management or related field for EMPA research project supervisors.
• A Ph
• D in Business Management or related field for EMBA research project supervisors.
• A relevant Master's and Bachelor's degree for both EMPA and EMBA research project supervisors.
• Applicants should have at least supervised research students at Degree or Diploma level.
• At least two years teaching experience in a tertiary institution.
• Experience working with postgraduate students in an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution will be an added advantage.
• Possession of a teaching qualification will be an added advantage.
• Possession of BQA Accreditation as an Assessor/Moderator will be an added advantage.
• Demonstrated knowledge of research ethics and ability to guide students in ethical research conduct.
• Ability to supervise and support students effectively through online and remote learning platforms.
• Strong competence in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies and academic writing.
• Current EMPA/EMBA project supervisors and tutors engaged by BOU are not required to apply.
