Job Purpose:

  • The Paramedic is responsible for providing immediate medical care, first aid, emergency response, and occupational health support to employees within the factory. The role focuses on promoting employee health and safety by managing workplace injuries, medical emergencies, and minor illnesses while ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt first aid treatment and emergency medical care to employees and visitors within the factory.
  • Assess patients, administer appropriate treatment, and determine when referral to a hospital or specialist is required.
  • Respond to workplace emergencies, accidents, and medical incidents in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform wound care, dressing, suturing where applicable, and management of minor injuries and illnesses.
  • Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Maintain the factory clinic, ensuring adequate stock of medicines, medical supplies, and first aid equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of first aid kits across the factory and replenish supplies as required.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills and evacuation exercises.
  • Educate employees on first aid, personal health, wellness, and occupational health practices.
  • Support pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work medical assessments where applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health OSH regulations and company health policies.
  • Investigate and document workplace injuries and prepare incident reports.
  • Coordinate ambulance services and referrals during medical emergencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee medical information at all times.
  • Collaborate with the Safety, Human Resources, and Administration departments to promote a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Participate in workplace health campaigns, vaccination programs, and health awareness initiatives.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Paramedicine, Emergency Medical Care, Clinical Medicine, Nursing, or a related medical field.
  • Valid registration and practicing license from the relevant professional regulatory body.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR/BLS certification.
  • Additional certification in ACLS, ITLS, or Occupational Health is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician EMT, Clinical Officer, or Occupational Health Practitioner.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, mining, or corporate environment is highly preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Factory and clinic-based environment with exposure to industrial operations.
  • May be required to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and respond to emergencies outside normal working hours.
