Job Summary

The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations safely and efficiently. The role includes preparing patients, operating MRI equipment, following established imaging protocols, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining accurate examination records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI examinations in accordance with physician requests and approved imaging protocols.
  • Verify patient identity, clinical history, examination requests, and complete MRI safety screening.
  • Explain MRI procedures to patients and provide clear pre- and post-examination instructions.
  • Screen patients for MRI contraindications, including metallic implants, pacemakers, and other safety risks.
  • Operate MRI equipment and associated systems safely and efficiently.
  • Select appropriate imaging sequences and parameters based on examination protocols.
  • Position patients accurately and ensure their comfort throughout the imaging procedure.
  • Administer MRI contrast media, where authorized, in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Monitor patients during MRI examinations and respond promptly to any medical emergencies.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing artifacts and image distortion.
  • Identify image-quality issues and repeat or adjust imaging sequences when necessary.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, radiation safety, and MRI safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and examination documentation.
  • Perform routine equipment quality checks and report faults or technical issues to the Biomedical Engineering Department or service provider.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with ethical and legal standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, radiographers, nurses, biomedical engineers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

Working Conditions

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and on-call schedules as required.
  • Ability to work in hospitals, diagnostic imaging centers, private clinics, or other medical imaging facilities.
