Operate food production and processing machinery according to established procedures. Set up, adjust, and calibrate machines to meet production requirements. Monitor machine performance and production processes to ensure smooth operations. Conduct routine inspections of machinery and report faults, breakdowns, or unusual machine performance. Perform basic troubleshooting and minor adjustments where permitted. Ensure production targets, quality standards, and output requirements are achieved. Maintain accurate production records, including quantities produced, machine settings, downtime, and wastage. Ensure food products are handled and processed in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards. Conduct regular cleaning and basic maintenance of machines and production areas. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company production guidelines. Minimise production wastage and ensure efficient use of raw materials. Carry out quality checks during the production process and report any defective products. Ensure proper packaging, labelling, and handling of finished products where applicable. Work closely with production supervisors, quality control personnel, maintenance teams, and other operators. Follow all occupational health and safety requirements while operating machinery. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment. Participate in shift handovers and communicate production issues to the incoming operator. Perform any other production-related duties assigned by the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Grade 12 certificate or equivalent. Certificate or training in Machine Operation, Food Production, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is an added advantage. Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Machine Operator, preferably within the food production or FMCG industry. Practical experience operating industrial food processing or packaging machinery. Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and manufacturing practices. Ability to identify basic machine faults and perform routine adjustments. Good attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets. Physically fit and able to work for extended periods in a production environment. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required. Good communication and teamwork skills. Strong sense of responsibility, discipline, and punctuality. Key Competencies
