Job Summary
The Lab Chemist / Quality Control Analyst is responsible for conducting laboratory analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished animal feed products to ensure compliance with company quality standards and regulatory requirements. The role supports production by providing timely and accurate laboratory results while maintaining Good Laboratory Practices GLP, GMP, and feed safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Raw Material & Finished Product Testing

  • Perform laboratory analysis on incoming raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished feed products.
  • Verify that all materials comply with approved specifications before use.
  • Conduct physical and chemical tests in accordance with approved laboratory procedures.
  • Report non-conforming materials promptly.

Laboratory Operations

  • Prepare laboratory reagents, chemicals, and testing solutions.
  • Operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is functioning properly before use.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety within the laboratory.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with GLP, GMP, HACCP and company quality standards.
  • Monitor product quality throughout manufacturing.
  • Support investigations into quality deviations and customer complaints.
  • Assist during internal and external quality audits.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Record all laboratory test results accurately.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly laboratory reports.
  • Maintain laboratory records and certificates of analysis.
  • Ensure proper filing and traceability of laboratory records.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency.
  • Recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support process validation and product improvement activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • B.Sc./HND in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science & Technology, Animal Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an Animal Feed Quality Control Laboratory.
  • Sound knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and feed quality standards.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
  • Knowledge of GLP, GMP, HACCP and Quality Management Systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical, communication, report-writing and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
