Job Description
- Username Properties is seeking a highly creative and expert In-House Video Editor to join our vibrant marketing team. Working closely with our on-site Videographer, your primary responsibility will be the post-production, packaging and optimization of high-quality video content that showcases our properties, events and corporate milestones.
- The ideal candidate is a master storyteller in the editing room with a "social-first" mindset. You must have a deep, platform-specific understanding of how to slice, style and package raw footage into high-converting, cinematic digital content ready for immediate publishing.
Key Responsibilities
Expert Video Editing & Post-Production
- Transform raw footage provided by the videographer into captivating, high-performing videos using industry-standard software.
- Apply advanced post-production techniques, including precise color grading, audio cleaning, sound design, visual effects and seamless transitions.
- Incorporate high-quality motion graphics, kinetic typography, titles and text overlays to enhance engagement.
Platform-Specific Packaging & Optimization
- Repurpose master footage into tailored, platform-optimized formats, ensuring strict adherence to the styles and dimensions of Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and long-form YouTube content.
- Guide the design of highly compelling, high-click-through-rate CTR thumbnails and preview assets for digital platforms.
- Optimize video pacing, hooks and captions to maximize viewer retention across different algorithms.
Audio Post-Production & Sound Design
- Clean up, balance and enhance voiceovers, interviews, and client testimonials.
- Source, curate and integrate trending, royalty-free music and sound effects that elevate the brand's emotional appeal.
Content Strategy, Pacing & Trend Monitoring
- Stay ahead of global and local digital video trends, editing styles and viral formats to keep Username Properties’ content fresh.
- Collaborate with the videographer and social media team to brainstorm creative hooks and visual storytelling formats that resonate with Kenyan investors and the diaspora.
Digital Asset Management
- Maintain a highly organized, easily searchable cloud and local library of raw footage, project files, sound assets and finalized deliverables.
- Ensure smooth workflow handoffs between production and publishing.
Requirements:
- Experience: At least 2 years of dedicated video editing experience, preferably in a fast-paced agency, media house, or corporate marketing department.
- Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and CapCut. Knowledge of DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro is a strong plus.
- Platform Expertise: Deep technical understanding of the unique video formats, aspect ratios, optimal lengths and viewer behaviours on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.
- Motion Graphics: Strong skills in creating custom motion graphics, lower thirds and animated text overlays.
- Storytelling Skills: Exceptional narrative editing skills—ability to find the "hook" and construct a compelling story from raw footage without relying on direction.
- Efficiency: Strong time management skills with a proven track record of meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple edit pipelines simultaneously.
- Market Awareness: A solid understanding of the Kenyan digital space and what visual styles resonate with local and diaspora real estate buyers.
- Portfolio: A comprehensive portfolio or showreel showcasing advanced editing techniques, color grading and successful social media video formats is mandatory.
