Role Summary:
To manage the company’s agricultural estate and out-grower schemes to ensure a consistent, high-yield supply of sugarcane to the mill. Responsible for land preparation, planting, cultivation, harvesting, and logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
Crop Planning:
Develop and implement annual crop planting and harvesting schedules to match mill crushing capacity.
Yield Optimization:
Implement modern agronomic practices (irrigation, fertilization, pest control) to maximize sugarcane yield and sugar content (CCS).
Harvest Management:
Coordinate mechanical and manual harvesting operations to minimize cane deterioration and ensure timely delivery to the mill.
Logistics:
Manage the fleet of haulage trucks and field equipment to ensure a steady supply of cane to the factory floor.
Budgeting:
Prepare and manage the annual farm operations budget, controlling costs related to labor, fuel, and chemicals.
Sustainability:
Implement sustainable farming practices, including water management, soil conservation, and trash management.
Team Leadership:
Lead a large team of supervisors, machine operators, and field laborers.
Qualifications & Experience:
M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Crop Science.
15+ years of experience in large-scale sugarcane cultivation.
Strong knowledge of irrigation systems (sprinkler/drip) and mechanized farming.
