Zambia Sugar Plc, an ABF Group sugar company and Zambia’s leading sugar producer, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates. Reporting to the Factory Manager, the successful candidate will provide direction, technical guidance and maintenance leadership to maximise plant availability and design capacity.

Key Performance Areas

• Fulfil the statutory role of site Appointed Person and ensure compliance with the Electricity Act, Factories Act and applicable regulations.

• Develop maintenance plans, goals, KPIs and performance-management processes.

• Oversee maintenance activities and boiler operations, including safety, quality, budgets and cost-effective resource use.

• Appoint, assess, authorise and oversee responsible electrical personnel and other authorised persons.

• Drive electrical safety, zero-harm standards, hazard identification and risk controls.

• Develop and manage maintenance budgets and equipment-maintenance strategies.

• Lead electrical and instrumentation audits and ensure findings are closed without repeat non-conformities.

• Plan and monitor off-crop and stop-day maintenance activities.

• Embed ABF Asset Management (iAMP), world-class maintenance practices, preventative maintenance and CMMS standards.

• Lead cross-functional problem solving, quality and food-safety improvement, capability development and team accountability.

• Manage maintenance service providers, high-risk contractors, technical-risk governance and capital-project input.

• Promote and comply with ABF procedures covering SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Full Grade 12 Certificate.

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

• At least 10 years’ post-qualification experience in heavy-current electrical, control and instrumentation engineering in manufacturing or heavy industry.

• At least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing large teams and multi-functional operations.

• Experience in large-scale maintenance planning, including SAP S/4HANA.

• Certificates must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
