ABOUT UMOZA ACADEMY

Umoza Academy is a flagship educational initiative of People First Foundation, providing quality early childhood education to 32 vulnerable children and orphans in Lusangazi. The academy uses the Rafiki Foundation curriculum, which integrates academic learning with character development and Bible-based values.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and qualified Early Childhood Teacher to join our team at Umoza Academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons that promote the holistic development of our learners; socially, emotionally, academically, and spiritually.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons in line with the Rafiki Foundation curriculum.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and positive behavior.
  • Support the holistic development of learners; socially, emotionally, academically, and spiritually.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports for parents and management.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and well-being.
  • Uphold the highest standards of child protection and safeguarding at all times.
  • Work closely with other teachers, volunteers, and PFF staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Facilitate Bible study and character development sessions as part of the curriculum.

Requirements

  • Minimum qualification of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Development (ECD), Primary Education, or a related field, will be an added advantage.
  • At least 1 year of teaching experience (formal or informal, including volunteer teaching).
  • Ability to teach young children with patience, kindness, and creativity.
  • Willingness to follow the Rafiki Foundation curriculum and incorporate Bible study into lessons.
  • Must have at least basic proficiency in English.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
