Role Overview for Civil Engineer Jobs in Maamba The Civil Engineer will deliver technical engineering support, oversee field supervision, and manage logistics for civil construction and maintenance activities. Reporting to the Senior Civil Engineer, the successful candidate will assist in planning, budgeting, quality assurance, and mentoring junior staff, ensuring projects meet safety and efficiency standards.

Key Responsibilities Civil Works Planning & Logistics:

• Develop budget proposals, quantity estimates, and cost plans; prepare purchase requisitions; coordinate material and equipment deliveries; conduct risk assessments; maintain inventories.

Civil Works Execution & Supervision:

• Supervise construction and maintenance; ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality, and safety standards; inspect sites; provide technical solutions and escalate issues as needed.

Team Supervision & Development:

• Monitor manpower deployment and attendance; support staff performance management; mentor civil supervisors and junior engineers.

Health, Safety & Environment:

• Enforce workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations; promote safe working practices; report unsafe conditions and incidents promptly.

Reporting:

• Prepare weekly progress reports; maintain photographic and written documentation of project milestones and construction progress.
• Qualifications and Experience Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Fully paid-up membership of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Minimum five years of experience in civil engineering and construction, with at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience in construction supervision, quality assurance, and health and safety compliance.
• Experience in mining site civil works is advantageous.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for site layouts and construction drawings.
• Skills and Competencies Expertise in civil works execution and construction supervision.
• Strong skills in budget preparation, quantity estimation, and risk assessment.
• Competency in progress reporting and project documentation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with structural and civil engineering software.
• Experience with SAP procurement module is a plus.
• Thorough knowledge of engineering design codes and standards.
